October 23, 2013 World Petroleum Council Vote in Calgary Could Change Global Energy Policy.
Calgary, Alta – 2017 could be a pivotal year for the global oil industry as Kazakhstan makes its bid as the preferred candidate city for the World Petroleum Council’s World Petroleum Congress 2017. Unlike previous World Petroleum Congresses which solely captured the theme, Kazakhstan is positioning its hosting of EXPO 2017 to create meaningful dialogue about the future of world energy.
With a $1.7 Billion investment in infrastructure to host EXPO 2017, Kazakhstan is promoting a theme of technology and future energy supply and use, greenhouse gas emission control and sustainability. If the current proposed bid for World Petroleum Congress 2017 is won during a vote here in Calgary on October 23, an opportunity will be created to carry the message of EXPO 2017 in to the World Petroleum Congress’ agenda.
Kazakhstan’s goal is to take a leadership role in a dialogue between the voices of conventional energy and future energy technology.
From October 21 to October 23 Calgary journalists, the business community, and the general public are invited to the Kazakhstani exhibition at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Calgary involving a photo exhibition, a Kazakh-Canadian business forum starting 3:30pm October 22, and a night of Kazakhstani entertainment October 22 starting at 9:30pm.
Members of the World Petroleum Council will most likely be on hand October 22 and voting on the 23rd for the host city of the World Petroleum Congress 2017(Calgary was the host in 2000).
Kazakhstan representatives giving interviews and answer questions will be Oil and Gas Minister of Kazakhstan Mr. Uzakbay Karabalin; Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Canada Mr. Konstantin Zhigalov; Vice-chairman of the National Committee, Bid Team Leader Mr. Jambulat Sarsenov; and several businessmen of Kazakhstan.
The official opening and closing ceremonies of the exhibit will be October 22 and conducted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Canada. The Kazakhstan-Canadian business forum will be the same day and room as the exhibition.
